Profits at French bank rise 89%

Paris: Credit Agricole, France’s second-largest bank, said profit rose 89% in the second quarter, as earnings at the corporate- and investment-banking unit cushioned losses in Greece.

Shares rose 6% in Paris trading after profits climbed to €379 million.

Credit Agricole’s Greek unit booked a €418m writedown in the quarter.
