FEARS have arisen that possible changes in regulations governing the milk sector could pose a real threat to Ireland’s €1.6 billion trade in dairy exports to the European Union.

The Irish Creamery Milk Suppliers Association has warned that the EU dairy market could be “carved-up” as a by-product of the moves.

Jackie Cahill, president, said Commission draft proposals provide for individual supplier contracts as well as competition law modifications.
