ITALIAN cookery students are in Ireland on an appropriately casually-paced, 10-day field study of Irish slow food, organised by Slow Food Italy and Bord Bia.

Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Minister Brendan Smith yesterday welcomed the students from the University of Gastronomy, Pollenza, in Italy.

The trip will provide students with an overview of the importance of the agri-food sector in Ireland, with an emphasis on Ireland’s natural resources and sustainably produced food. Bord Bia will also give a marketing presentation.
