THE housing market has stabilised, according to one- in-three mortgage brokers surveyed but analysts have warned a lack of consumer confidence means prices won’t rise any time soon.

Latest research from KBC said brokers believe activity in the Irish mortgage market is still slow but there are indications some market segments may be close to a turning point.

Brokers said there is “little prospect” of a marked upturn in house prices or mortgage activity until there is a clear improvement in confidence towards the Irish economy and job prospects in particular.
