SMALL business is spending over €2 billion a year on security provision, but is fighting a losing battle, according to a new survey.

The Small Firms Association (SFA) says the scope and costs associated with crime are increasing, despite the huge build-up in spending to counter the problems faced by Irish companies.

Its seventh annual survey shows that over €2bn was spent by Irish firms on crime prevention last year.
