Live cattle exports post strong year as Britain remains largest market

BRITAIN remains Ireland’s largest single market for live cattle despite a number of commercial issues, Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith has stated.

Mr Smith told Fine Gael TD Denis Naughten, in a written Dáil reply, that the strong performance of Irish live exports last year has continued into this year.

In the period up to April 10, overall live exports are already over 55% ahead of the levels achieved during the same period in 2009.
