FORESTS, which should be picturesque beauty spots, have become blighted as a result of illegal dumping, according to Labour Party agriculture spokesman Sean Sherlock TD.

Mr Sherlock said there is a danger that dumping in forests, which have become major amenity areas particularly for families, will become a serious deterrent for would-be visitors.

“The levels of illegal dumping have reached crisis level, and while there is no easy way to control it, that should not become an excuse for doing nothing.
