Flaws in air traffic control upgrade

Washington: US aviation regulators may delay completing a $2.1 billion (€1.56bn) air traffic control upgrade after computer flaws forced the Lockheed Martin system to be removed five days after the first activation last month.

The project to replace a 43-year-old US system that directs aircraft at high altitudes may not be finished until early 2011 rather than the end of this year as planned, according to the Federal Aviation Administration. Cost overruns aren’t yet projected, the FAA said.
