THE market had a poor start to the week yesterday as many of the larger stocks lost ground.

Bourses across Europe were also invariably down on the day. The ISEQ index shed 28.73 points to close at 3,094.76.

The financial sector was weak as the state’s largest bank AIB gave up 8c to €1.49. Bank of Ireland followed thegeneral trend by sliding 3.8c to €1.24, while Irish Life and Permanent remained flat at €3.
