Vodafone reports 19% surge in text messages

VODAFONE customers in Ireland sent 1.27 billion text messages in the final three months of last year, up almost 19% on the previous year.

The company however saw its quarterly average revenue per user fall by 7.7% to €37.40 in the three month period. Voice minutes fell by 1.9% to 1.62 billion.

This news came as the company, on an overall group level, raised its cash-flow forecast on job cuts, lower spending for network equipment and increasing sales.
