Payment of €190m in Farm Waste Management Scheme grants begins

A PAYMENT of €190 million in respect of the second tranche of grants under the Farm Waste Management Scheme has started.

Agriculture Minister Brendan Smith, who announced the move yesterday, said he welcomed this payment given the very difficult weather conditions many farmers face at present.

He said the money is in addition to €49m already paid out by his department under the scheme towards the end of last year.
