Weather keeps shoppers at home

FOLLOWING a dismal year retailers are now suffering even further as shoppers stay away from stores because of the freezing temperatures.

Retail Excellence Ireland (REI) said following a successful sales period retailers are now facing a “major issue” as consumers decide now is not the time for shopping.

“The bad weather is having a big effect on retailers. People are not shopping, especially in the morning,” said David Fitzsimons, chief executive of REI.
