Labour calls for bank inquiry

Dublin: Labour Party leader Eamon Gilmore said his party will be tabling a private members motion calling for a comprehensive parliamentary inquiry into the banking crisis.

“The Labour Party will also next week publish the text of a private members bill designed to address defects in current legislation governing powers of the Dáil and Seanad, through their committees, to conduct inquiries into matters of public concern,” he said.
