Foreign investment falls by €18 billion

THE overall value of foreign direct investment (FDI) in Ireland fell by nearly €18 billion to €120.9bn last year, according to figures published yesterday by the CSO.

The new set of figures – which combine existing and new investment – also show that the amount invested abroad, by companies based here, grew from €101.9bn to €123.3bn last year.

Subtracting one from the other means Ireland’s net total FDI asset position stood at €2.4bn, as of the end of last December.
