Exports for first half of year up 2% to €44.3bn

EXPORT figures for the first six months of the year were 2% ahead of the same period last year at €44.3 billion, figures from the Central Statistics Office showed yesterday.

These were driven by increases of 22% and 19% in pharmaceuticals and chemicals respectively.

Sales of computer equipment in overseas markets fell 27% while US exports rose 18%.
