US unemployment rises in 27 states

August saw unemployment rise in 27 US states, with California and Nevada reaching record levels of joblessness.

Rhode Island was also on the list of states with the highest level of unemployment since data began in 1976, the Labour Department said. California’s unemployment rate reached 12.2% and Nevada’s climbed to 13.2%.
