AIB gain boost for market

THE Dublin market bucked the trend among its European counterparts by registering a slight gain yesterday.

Having closed May with a month-on-month gain for the third consecutive month, the ISEQ index continued 34.17 points higher to finish at 2,852.20.

The main banks had a mixed day with AIB powering ahead to drag the market as a whole into positive territory. The share price improved 28.2c to €1.88, with over nine million shares traded. Bank of Ireland followed suit tacking on 3.5c to €1.81. Irish Life and Permanent fell 10.3c to €3.40.
