Market down on profit-taking

THE ISEQ index closed down 21.16 points at 2,682.00 points yesterday as profit-takers were to the fore. In other news, the government has appointed Brendan McDonagh as interim managing director of the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA).

He has played a major role in the development of the Government’s policy response to the banking crisis and also helping to create the NAMA proposal.

In the financial sector, Bank of Ireland jumped 25c to €1.19, AIB gained 16c to €1.20 while Irish Life & Permanent moved up 19c to €2.29.
