Market recovers Monday losses

THE market picked up yesterday regaining Monday’s losses and moving ahead for the week. This came despite Standard & Poor’s decision to downgrade Ireland’s sovereign debt to an AA+ rating.

The ISEQ index tacked on 64.6 points to 2,193.95.

It was a good day for the financials as all three of the main banks were among the index leading movers. AIB and Bank of Ireland advanced 4.7c and 6.5c to 60c and 52c. Irish Life and Permanent followed suit adding 10c to €1.10.
