MORTGAGES are not being made available by banks to potential home-buyers, according to the country’s builders.

Members of the Construction Industry Federation said people are anxious to purchase homes, but when they go to the bank for a mortgage they are being refused loans, even though they have deposits and good salaries.

Federation members said they are having difficulty shifting properties because of this.
