THE ISEQ index closed up 69.25 points yesterday at 1,985.63 points having been as low as 1,880.36.

Market makes moderate fightback

A strong performance by the Dow Jones industrial average in the United States helped the Irish market recover its earlier losses.

The main financial stocks in Dublin had another positive day. AIB gained 4c to 40c, Bank of Ireland moved up 2c to 21.5c, Irish Life and Permanent soared 17c to 87.5c while insurance group FBD dipped 11c to €6.05.
