Market sheds value for third day

Even strong performances by the two main banking stocks, which now account for little of the overall index, could not halt it from sliding for the third consecutive day.

The financial stocks regained some of the previous days’ losses as bargain hunters were to the fore buying the main two banks. AIB jumped 7c to 34c, Bank of Ireland shot up 6c to 18.5c, Irish Life and Permanent was unchanged at 80c while insurance group FBD fell 10c to €6.
