NOT one cent of the €127 million in restructuring aid paid to Greencore when sugar production ceased at its Mallow and Carlow plants has made its way back to either community, says Labour TD Sean Sherlock.

“This is in direct contravention of the commitment made by the company that they would direct a proportion of this money into the local economies, specifically to support environmental and social initiatives.

“If such funding has been made available to local projects, it has been the best kept secret of the century,” he said.
