Ryanair faces wrath of airport bosses over cuts

BATTLE lines have been drawn between Ryanair and the Shannon Airport Authority over penalty costs the airport claims will be due as a result of the airline’s decision to cut planes and routes.

In statement the airport authority said Ryanair has availed of an extremely attractive incentive scheme to deliver agreed targets at Shannon over a five-year period.

“Shannon airport has met all its obligations in respect of the agreement and we expect the airline will likewise honour its commitments. We do not accept that Ryanair can avoid its contractual commitment on the basis of the air travel tax introduced by the Government.”
