Moody’s lowers debt-rating outlook amid warnings on the economy

THE Irish Government’s debt-rating outlook has been lowered by Moody’s which warned the financial crisis was likely to “significantly” undermine the economy.

As a result the outlook on the AAA rating was changed to “negative” from “stable,” Moody’s said.

It means Ireland has become the first western European country to have its top credit rating given a negative outlook by Moody’s Investors Service.
