ISEQ up but world markets worried

The ISEQ index closed up 19.56 points at 2,641.12 in contrast to world markets which were all down after Wall Street slumped on renewed fears of a global recession.

ISEQ up but world markets worried

The main financial stocks had a mostly positive day: AIB increased 10c to €1.98, Bank of Ireland was up 2c to 92c, Anglo Irish dipped 2c to 24c, Irish Life & Permanent jumped 16c to €2.07, while FBD moved up 15c to €8.45.

In construction, CRH added a mere 4c to €9.99, Kingspan weakened 7c to €3.18 and Grafton Group progressed 3c to €2.41.
