ISEQ lower in cautious trading

The ISEQ index closed 61.19 points weaker with trading volumes relatively low and investors in cautious mood over the deteriorating state of the global economy.

Financial stocks had a mixed day. AIB finished 20c less at €2.05, Bank of Ireland lost 5c to 95c, Irish Life & Permanent weakened 7c to €1.60, while Anglo Irish Bank bucked the trend, gaining 5c to 38c with over 11 million shares traded in the stock.

In the construction sector, CRH sustained its recent good run, adding 5c to €20.49, Grafton declined 14c to €2.15, while Kingspan was off 10c at €3.32.
