RECAPITALISATION of the banks is not likely to happen until the new year.

Soundings from the banks suggest the banks will not be pressganged into selling off equity to private equity firms in response to Government requests.

Neither is there likely to be any serious move on mergers despite the express wish of Finance Minister Brian Lenihan to see consolidation in the sector.
