A NEW survey conducted by research group, SHL Ireland has found Irish businesses are using the current downturn as an opportunity to re-deploy and re-train staff in preparation for better times ahead.

Downturn used to retrain staff

A majority (59%) of those surveyed said redefining how staff will need to operate in this period of economic change was of “critical importance” to their HR strategy for 2009.

Almost half cited the redeployment of existing staff between other offices, divisions or roles as important strategies to adopt in light of the current economic climate.
