Market treads water as stocks sold

THE ISEQ index finished at 2,681.51 yesterday, a small fall of 1.04 points for the day.

Financial stocks weighed heavily on the index and Wall Street was notably weaker as investors worried about the economic outlook and took profits after Thursday’s rally.

Anglo Irish Bank plunged 44c to close at €1.29 ahead of its full-year results on December 3. Worries about the property slump here and in Britain and the on-going financial crisis led the shares downward.
