Market in marginal gain

THE Irish market saw a marginal gain yesterday in line with other European bourses. The ISEQ index was up 23.15 points to 2,826.74 to recoup a small percentage of the previous day’s losses.

Financial stocks were mixed as AIB and Irish Life and Permanent moved on 12c and 9c to €3.63 and €2.45. Anglo-Irish dropped 33c to €2 while Bank of Ireland lost 30 to €1.62, ahead of half-year results due next week.

In construction, CRH regained 70c of the substantial losses experienced on Thursday to close the week at €16.20. Grafton Group and Kingspan also saw positive movement up 15c and 6c to €2.70 and €4.36.
