Wind farms power 36,000 extra homes

NEW wind farms in Cork and Kerry are to provide enough power for 36,000 homes.

The development by independent energy supply firm Energia is estimated to remove more than 90,000 tonnes of CO2 from the atmosphere.

The company is investing €550 million in wind farm contracts in 15 locations across Ireland which it says will be completed next year. At present there are 94 wind farms operational in Ireland.
