ANECDOTAL evidence of substantial inflows of foreign deposits to Irish banks has boosted investor confidence and caused a surge in share prices among the Irish financials.

Yesterday, the ISEQ index gained 120.72 to close a turbulent week at 3,943.66.

AIB’s share price closed the session up 83.1 at €7.50. Bank of Ireland and Irish Life and Permanent also saw a significant rise moving on 23.3c and 45c to €4.85 and €6.50. Anglo-Irish also tacked on 4.6c to €5.085.
