Market fall in line with other bourses

THE ISEQ index fell 162.46 points yesterday to close at 4,282.32.

This was in line with sharp losses on European, American and Asian markets as worries about the international economy grew.

In the financial sector, the banks were badly hit with news that they are facing a fresh funding challenge as new measures are brought in by the ECB that will have the effect of cutting the amount of funds they will receive for mortgage-asset backed securities.
