THE Irish market finished up yesterday with a minor plus, having hovered just below its opening position for most of the day.

A busy day for company interim reports saw more than 12 million shares traded and a 32.92 point gain to close at 4,380.19.

The financials had a good day as AIB and Bank of Ireland both made ground, up 2c and 4c to €8.15 and €5.21. Anglo-Irish tacked on 45.7c to €5.71, while Irish Life and Permanent finished up 49c having delivered results in line with market expectations.
