PROPOSALS in the Aylward report on the sheep sector, which was recently presented to the European Parliament, must be turned into reality, according to the Irish Cattle and Sheep Farmers Association.

ICSA sheep committee chairman Jimmy Cosgrave said there is a lot of pessimism among sheep farmers. “The clock is ticking for the future of the Irish sheep sector. Farmers cannot exist on the ‘live horse and you will get grass’ philosophy.

“It is at this time of year that sheep farmers make the vital decisions.
