Trade surplus rose to €2.7bn in May

IRELAND’s trade surplus increased to €2.7 billion in May, according to latest external trade figures published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

This figure is up from the €2.48bn recorded in April and the €2.14bn in May of last year. On a seasonally adjusted basis, May’s trade surplus was up at €2.62bn, from €2.3bn the previous month.

In terms of export performance, there was a 7% seasonally adjusted increase in the value of exports from Ireland in May, on a rolling month- by-month basis, with imports increasing by 3%.
