€45m aid cut is a cruel act of indifference

AS THE gloom and doom increases over the country and the threat of starvation for another 100 million becomes a global talking point it would be easy to sink into despair.

Former president Mary Robinson put it fairly trenchantly recently when she told global leaders to tackle the global food crisis.

In an address she gave recently in Dublin to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights she said food is a human right to which every woman, man and child is entitled.
