Former president Mary Robinson put it fairly trenchantly recently when she told global leaders to tackle the global food crisis.

In an address she gave recently in Dublin to mark the 60th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights she said food is a human right to which every woman, man and child is entitled.
