PROPOSALS to curb EU targets for the use of biofuels may threaten investment in the industry, the European Bioethanol Fuel Association said.

Britain yesterday said it would slow the expansion of biofuels to allow for more environmental and food-impact studies.

The European Parliament’s environment committee said a target for the use of renewable fuels in transport should be 4% by 2015 and 8 to 10% by 2020. The European Commission had proposed a target of 10% by 2020.
