THE Dublin market took yet another hammering with the banks, in particular, bearing the brunt.

Financial stocks fell considerably in early trading ahead of the publication of Central Bank lending figures; the ISEQ index dropped 86.09 points to 5209.57.

AIB and Bank of Ireland both lost significant ground down 20.1c and 32.7c to €9.799 and €5.523 respectively. Anglo-Irish plunged 55c to €5.95; while Irish Life and Permanent weakened 76c to €6.61.
