Market quiet on slow trading

THE ISEQ index closed up 31.21 points at 6,460.44 amid crude oil prices hitting new highs and US investors still being nervous about an unexpected large drop in US consumer confidence.

In the financial sector, AIB rose 9c to €13.75, Bank of Ireland added 10c to €8.80, Anglo Irish Bank jumped 18c to €9.53 while Irish Life and Permanent remained added 8c to €11.55.

In the construction sector, index heavyweight CRH moved up to €24.65, an improvement of 27c, Kingspan dipped 9c to €7.75 while Grafton moved forwards 18c to finish at €5.28.
