Market gains minor advantage

THE Irish market ended the week on a positive note increasing 5.06 yesterday to rest at 6,304.30, slipping back from a gain of 50 points during morning trading.

A mixed day for the financials saw three of the sector principals lagging with only Irish Life and Permanent bucking the trend by adding 18c to €11.47. AIB and Bank of Ireland shed 5c and 4.5c to €13.66 and €8.69.

Anglo-Irish also lost ground, down 15c to €9.35.
