The Irish exchange jumped 127 points to 6,306.
The financials closed in positive territory with a 264-point gain. AIB was 39c better off at €13.65. Bank of Ireland added 5c to €8.92. Anglo and Irish Life and Permanent finished 58c and 17c higher at €8.68 and €11.07.
