Market gains despite negative data

THE Irish exchange closed in positive territory yesterday despite negative news from the US as the non-farm payrolls figure released a cut in 80,000 jobs which was higher than expected.

The ISEQ was 30 points better off at 6,351.

Financial heavyweight AIB was unchanged at €13.95. Bank of Ireland jumped 25c to €9.61. Anglo Irish remained the same at €8.60 while Irish Life and Permanent firmed 1c to €12.55.
