HAVING seen three solid days of gains, the Irish market was back in negative territory by the close of trading yesterday.

A combination of profit-taking and resurfacing fears over the possibility of a US recession dragged the ISEQ 232.36 lower to 6,321.02.

AIB and Bank of Ireland slipped 52c and 64.3c to €13.95 and €9.35. IL&P lost 77.3c to €12.53 while Anglo Irish shed 74.5c to €8.6.
