Aer Lingus boosts market

THE ISEQ Index added to yesterday’s gains by moving up 104.70 points to rest at 6,260.29 as Aer Lingus drove the market up posting a 16% rise in 2007 operating profit.

Among the banks, AIB had a good day moving 26c up to €13.61, Bank of Ireland gained 12c to finish at €9.32, Anglo improved 17c to €8.78 while Irish Life & Permanent added 23c to €10.78.

In other news, C&C moved up 17c to €4.18 on the back of the British budget where cider was increased by 3p a litre, while beer was increased 4p a pint. Ryanair moved up 18c to 3.25, while Elan finished the day 68c ahead at €13.04. Paddy Power surged ahead 83c to €23.15.
