Online shopping for car parts doubles

THERE was a significant increase in Irish motorists shopping online for their car parts last year, according to online car parts retailer, MicksGarage.ie.

Car lamps (22%), wing mirrors (17%) and body panels (15%) were the most common car parts purchased through MicksGarage.ie during 2007 and an analysis of website traffic for 2007 versus 2006 revealed an increase of 103%.

The internet company said 62% of internet car part shoppers last year were male and 65% of shoppers bought more than one item.

The most popular car accessories being purchased through MicksGarage.ie are towbars, roof bars and car DIY manuals.

One in three of the website’s shoppers originated from Dublin, with Cork (10%), Galway (7%), Kildare (5%), Wicklow (4%) and Limerick (4%) the other leading counties for motorists shopping online for their car parts.
