THE Dublin index closed out a relatively positive week with a fourth straight day of gains on Friday.

The ISEQ index shot up an impressive 248.55 points to 7,207.05 on the back of yet more strong performances from the banks.

The financial sector made more headway during Friday's trading as US Federal Reserve chairman Ben Bernanke hinted on Thursday evening that another US interest rate cut may be in the offing. AIB and Bank of Ireland rose 83c and 25c to €15.53 and €10.90 respectively.
