Market slips despite finance gains

Banking was a mixed bag with AIB up 15c to €14.63 and Bank of Ireland up 12c to €10.05. However, Anglo Irish and IL&P slipped 4c and 20c to €9.48 and €13.75.

Elsewhere, Paddy Power shares tumbled 2.40 to €23.60 as competitor Ladbrokes blamed poor over-the-counter sales on a switch in customers' bets from horseracing to football.
