Market maintains downward trend

THE Irish market yesterday picked up where it left off last week with more significant losses.

The Iseq index lost 156.56 to 7,458.98 on the back of further poor performance from the financial stocks.

In the banking sector, AIB and Bank of Ireland lost 45c and 37.9c to €15.90 and €11.44. Anglo-Irish shed 34c to €10.79, while Irish Life and Permanent completed the full house losing 47.3c to €13.607.
